Blood in cat urine is most commonly caused by Feline No known cause Cystitis (FIC, also called FLUTD), but can also be from bladder stones, UTIs, or urethral obstruction (especially in male cats). Urethral obstruction is life-threatening.

What to do:

If your cat is straining to urinate or cannot urinate, seek emergency care immediately — this is a blockage. If your cat is urinating normally, your vet will perform sediment exam, culture, and possibly imaging to determine the cause.
